Each hair cycles through three phases:  anagen phase (growth), telogen phase (resting), and catagen phase in betweenn).  90% of the hairs are in the growing phase, 9% are in the resting phase, and 1% is in between.

The hair removal laser treats the hairs in the anagen phase.  The hairs in the anagen phase contain melanin, the target for the laser hair removal system. Your treatments will be customized to your needs for optimal results.   Call for your free consultation.

What is the Laser Hair Removal System?

The Cutera CoolGlide is designed to be the most outstanding laser hair removal system on the market for all skin types, from light to dark skinned patients and even patients with tanned skin.  Its unique design, longer wavelength, and innovative cooling allow extremely effective, safe and permanent results.

Cutera CoolGlide is cleared for permanent hair reduction. Treatments can be performed on any area of the body.

How does laser hair removal work and why is it safe? Who can be treated? What areas can be treated? Why is laser preferred for hair removal? Will laser hair removal work for me?

Are there any restrictions on my activities after treatment?

There are no restrictions, however for some clients, some redness may occur. Redness may persist for a few minutes to several days depending on the area treated or skin sensitivity, therefore you may want to plan your work or social calendar, accordingly.

What precautions should be taken before and after treatment?

Prior to treatment, waxing or plucking of hairs should not be performed for two weeks. Our laser treats all skin types, including dark and suntanned skin.  After treatments, one is to rub in a circular motion during bathing. No waxing or plucking of hairs should be performed.  Immediately after treatment, one should avoid direct sunlight.

How many treatments will I need?

Hairs grow in cycles. The laser treats hairs in the active stage of growth. Since not all hairs are in the growing phase, repeated treatments at intervals are needed to provide good results. The number of treatments depends on your skin, hair color, coarseness of the hair and density per treated area.

In any given treated area, the hairs are in various cycles - growth, resting, or in between. The laser hair removal causes permanent hair reduction in the number of growing hairs in the area.  No one treatment can cause permanent hair reduction in the area.  While individual results may vary, 3 to 6 treatments are generally needed to provide excellent long-term results with high patient satisfaction.

How does laser hair removal compare with other hair removal methods?

Electrolysis and laser hair removal causes permanent hair reduction. Electrolysis is operated dependent and tends to leave scarring.  Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated.

Is laser hair removal covered by insurance?

Most insurance plans do not reimburse for cosmetic procedures.  Some flex plans cover laser hair removal.

What are the side effects of laser hair removal?

Most clients experience no side effects; however, few exhibit redness in the treated area. One can return to their normal activities immediately. Sunscreen is recommended to protect from direct sunlight.

The areas desired to be treated are shaved to remove the visible hairs to allow the energy from the laser to penetrate the desired area of treatment better. The pulses area delivered simultaneously as the previous areas are cooled. One may feel as slight sting, like that of a rubber band snap. An anesthetic cream can be applied 30 minutes prior to treatment, however, it is seldomly required.  After the treatment, a cooling gel is applied.
